Keynote:  Lt Gen Sir Tom Copinger-Symes KCB CBE – Deputy Commander of Strategic CommandTom spent his early career with The Rifles on operations in Northern Ireland, Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan, and in operational and strategy posts at the Permanent Joint Headquarters and the Ministry of Defence. For the past 10 years he has focused on how the Army and Defence can make better use of its data and information, whether supporting traditional warfighting or employed as a weapon in its own right. This has included command at brigade (1 ISR Brigade) and divisional levels (Force Troops Command / 6th (UK) Division). In his last post, as Director of Military Digitisation, he was responsible for the Digital Strategy for Defence and creation of a Digital Backbone, the Digital Foundry and the Defence AI Centre, to enable Defence’s transformation to a data-centric enterprise.
 
In May 2022 Tom was promoted to Lieutenant General, on appointment as the Deputy Commander of UK Strategic Command. In August 2023 he assumed the additional responsibilities of Director General Joint Force Development.
 
Tom is also Colonel Commandant of The Rifles; Honorary Colonel of the First Aid Nursing Yeomanry; is Chair of Army Cresta Tobogganing; and Vice President of Army Cricket and Football. He is also active in growing esports and gaming across Defence, not least for their potential to increase digital and cyber skills, as well as to engage audiences across the UK and more broadly.

AFCEA London Chapter President:  Air Cdre Mike WilsonAir Cdre Mike Wilson joined the Royal Air Force in 1987 as a University Cadet and studied Physics at the University of Southampton.  He completed Initial Officer and Engineering Officer Training at the RAF College Cranwell in 1991. 
 
During his early tours he led teams working on equipment including ground-based navigation and air defence equipment, Communications Information Systems, and aircraft avionics.
 
He has served in a variety of locations, including RAF Kinloss in the north of Scotland, RAF Valley in North Wales, Corsham in Wilshire, the Falkland Islands, and numerous places in between. 
 
Highlights of his career include:
 
Commanding the RAF school responsible for training the service’s cyberspace engineers.
Serving with NATO at the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe, Mons Belgium for 3 years, where he focussed on providing communications and intelligence services to NATO’s deployed operations and exercises. 
Tours in Afghanistan, including one in command of NATO’s Signals Support Group where he led a multinational force delivering information and services across Afghanistan. 
 
Following his promotion to Air Cdre in November 2018, he was the RAF’s senior communications engineer and assumed the appointment of Deputy Chief Digital and Information Officer and Chief Information and Security Officer for the Royal Air Force. 
 
In July 2023, Air Cdre Wilson commenced his current post in the Ministry of Defence’s Directorate of Cyber Defence and Resilience Directorate.
